What is Kasko?

Kasko is Turkey's voluntary comprehensive motor insurance. Unlike the mandatory Traffic Insurance (ZMS), which pays for damage you cause to others, Kasko covers damage to your own vehicle regardless of fault.

Policies are typically offered at three levels: Mini Kasko (collision only), Standard Kasko (collision, fire, theft, natural disasters), and Full/Extended Kasko (adds glass, flood, electrical damage, and more). As an independent broker, Neolife Group compares multiple insurers to find the best package for your needs.

Excess (franchise): Most Kasko policies include an excess — the portion of each claim you pay out-of-pocket. A higher excess lowers your premium; a lower excess reduces your cost at claim time.

🌳

Damage from trees, roof tiles, or other objects falling onto the vehicle.

Excess selection: A high excess may feel cost-effective on paper but can be expensive if you make frequent claims. We help you find the right premium/excess balance for your driving profile.

Insured value: Set your vehicle's insured value close to current market value. Underinsurance means proportionally reduced payouts at claim time.

Exclusions

Note: The following are typically excluded from standard policies. Always read the policy wording carefully.

  • Mechanical or gearbox failure unrelated to an accident
  • Accidents caused by driving without a licence or under the influence of alcohol
  • Intentional damage by the insured
  • Tyre damage (usually excluded unless the vehicle body is also damaged)
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Use in unauthorised areas or off-road zones

Who is it for?

  • New vehicle owners: Full Kasko recommended when vehicle value is high.
  • Financed vehicles: Banks typically require Kasko as a loan condition.
  • High urban mileage drivers: Higher exposure to parking damage and collision.
  • Commercial vehicle users: Claim frequency may be higher; package and excess selection matter more.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Kasko and Traffic Insurance?
Mandatory Traffic Insurance (ZMS) covers third-party damage you cause. Kasko covers damage to your own vehicle. They complement each other; Traffic Insurance is legally required, Kasko is voluntary.
What is Mini Kasko vs Full Kasko?
Mini Kasko typically covers collision and rollover only. Standard Kasko adds theft, fire, and natural disasters. Full/Extended Kasko includes extras such as glass, flood, and electrical damage at a higher premium.
Can I claim for loss of market value after an accident?
Yes, if your policy includes a 'diminution in value' add-on. This compensates for the reduction in second-hand market price after a repaired accident. It is not standard and must be confirmed before signing.
How do I report a Kasko claim?
In a safe location after an accident, complete a mutual accident report or call the police, photograph the scene, then call your insurer's claims line. Neolife Group clients receive broker support throughout the claims process.
Is Kasko worth it for an older vehicle?
Run a premium-vs-payout analysis. For older, lower-value vehicles, Mini Kasko or theft-only cover may be more economical than full cover. We can help you model the options.
